Joseph K. Kornwasser, Chairman of the Board

Henry P. Homsher, President, Chief Executive Officer and Director
With over 30 years in the banking industry, Homsher brings extensive banking experience in California to his new position, as National Bank of California’s President and Chief Executive Officer. For Pacific Coast Bankers Bank in San Francisco he was a Director for 6 years and President/CEO from 2002 to 2003, as well as responsible for loan syndications in excess of $350 million and acquisition activities. For almost 20 years between 1982 and 2001, he served in various positions at Frontier State Bank/Frontier Bancorp in Redondo Beach, including eight years as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. Most recently, he was founder and President of Alternative Strategies LLC in Cypress, California where he applied his expertise in asset quality and negotiation as a consultant for banks that need to maximize recovery of loan losses and reduce nonperforming assets. He has a BS degree in Business Administration, Accounting and Finance from California State University at Northridge. An avid sailor, Homsher is married with four children.

Peter Koos, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer
Peter Koos, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, has over 30 years of banking experience. As well as recently being a financial banking consultant, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer at various state-chartered Banks and Organizing Groups for the last ten years. At Frontier State Bank in Redondo Beach he was the Bank’s Chief Financial Officer and in 1999 was appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of Frontier Bancorp. In 2002, he was a founder of Continental Bank of America and under his leadership as Director and President/CEO the de-novo bank became profitable in 15 months. He joined Golden Security Bank in 2005, helping to restore its profitability and regulatory standing. Koos has a Commercial Banking Diploma from the University of Colorado’s Graduate School of Banking and is involved in various civic and charitable organizations.

Jonathan E. Matalon, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
A graduate of the USC School of Business and a CPA, Jonathan Matalon brings over 35 years of progressively responsible experience in both public accounting and the financial services industry. For the past 5 years, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for California General Bank, N.A. in Pasadena. While there he served as the Corporate Secretary and was an active participant of the ALCO, Audit, Technology, Business Continuity, and Loan Committees.

For the 5 years prior to California General Bank, N.A., he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Professional Business Bank. While at ProBizBank he also functioned as the Corporate Secretary and was an active participant of the ALCO, Audit, Technology, Marketing, Business Continuity, and Loan Committees.

For the 10 years prior to ProBizBank, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer-Cashier for First State Bank of Southern California. While at First State he also functioned as the Corporate Secretary and was an active participant of the ALCO, Audit, Compliance, Loan and Y2K Committees.

Prior to First State, Mr. Matalon served in Financial Management positions at a Fortune 100 company, a $6 billion Savings and Loan, and Real Estate Development companies. Mr. Matalon’s diversified career gives him the balanced perspective critical to effectively interacting with the community, vendors, regulators and external auditors, and to successfully take-on the challenges ahead.

Mr. Matalon’s expertise and track record of accomplishments make him an invaluable asset to the Bank.

G. Scott Peterson, Executive Vice President, Chief Credit Officer
Scott joined National Bank of California in 2006 after serving 5 years as the Executive Vice President – Chief Credit Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Member of the Board of Directors of Merchants Bank of California. Previously, he was the Executive Vice President – Chief Credit Officer of South Bay Bank. He also served 3 years on the Board of Directors of Frontier State Bank.

Scott started his banking industry career as an intern with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago during college and joined the FDIC as a Bank Examiner in 1987 upon graduation. A native of Chicago, he relocated to Southern California in 1992 with the FDIC to resolve the problem banks that existed at the time. Scott left the FDIC in 1996 and spent three years consulting with banks on various projects, including preparation for Y2K. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Prostate Cancer Survivors Project, a non-profit organization that promotes prostate cancer awareness.

He graduated with University Honors from Northern Illinois University with a B.S. in Finance. He also obtained a certificate from London Business School in 1995 after completing the Accelerated Development Program.

Richard "Dick" Lawrence, Executive Vice President of Business Development
In the spring of 2011 National Bank of California welcomed this talented business banker into the Bank's headquarter offices in Brentwood. Dick is well respected and known by clients and management as a business and community leader in Santa Monica.

A seasoned veteran banker, Dick Lawrence has helped Westside businesses and professional service firms grow and prosper. He has provided financial expertise and management advice as well as connections within the community.

His commitment to service excellence extends beyond supporting Bank customers. It reaches deep into the community. His professionalism and performance is exemplified by receiving awards from the Center for Healthy Aging and a lifetime achievement award for his leadership from the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce.

We are proud to have this USC grad, whose banking career includes First Interstate, Santa Monica Bank, Western Bank, and First Private Bank & Trust.

John J.G. Batiste, Regional Vice President
John, an aggressive leader in the banking industry and civic organizations for the past 30 years, brings to National Bank of California superior skills in management, commercial credit, business development, operations, and administration. His career began with the Bank of New York on Wall Street. As Vice President at City National Bank, he received “Manager of the Year” and “1997 Office of the Year” recognition. John has a track record in profit making as well as cost containment.

He has served in various positions including Director and President, with associations and organizations such as The American Cancer Society, Encino Chamber of Commerce, and Optimist Club of Encino, among others. He was also appointed by Mayor Richard Riordan to the Citizen Advisory Council for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).

John received his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern University of New Orleans with a Business Administration major and Economics minor.

Patricia A. McAdams, Regional Vice President
Patty has been a professional business banking specialist in the Orange County area for the past 28 years and a resident of Orange County for more than 48 years. She brings strong leadership, business development, management, and communication skills to National Bank of California.

She joined National Bank of California in 2002 as a Regional Vice President and has been instrumental in increasing the Bank’s presence in the Orange County area. With Pacific Century Bank (previously United Bank and Home Bank via merger), she developed her overall banking skills by serving in a number of positions and in different groups, including VP/Real Estate Group, VP/Private Banking Group, VP/Financial Services Manager, and Branch Manager. Patty started her banking career as a teller and quickly moved up to increasingly responsible positions including operations, loan officer, and assistant branch manager.

Patty is currently a member of Soroptimist International of Westminster, Executive Association of South County, and St. Jude’s Foundation.

David Weiss, Regional Vice President
David joined National Bank of California in June of 2012. He brings over 30 years of diversified Financial Services experience to National Bank of California, which includes over a decade as the owner and operator of a successful mortgage banking organization. He began his career at Wells Fargo Bank, where he moved through the bank’s training program to assume the responsibilities of an Installment Loan Officer at the institution’s Santa Monica office. David’s banking experience encompasses spending several years at both large and independent institutions, which afforded him the ability to embrace the distinctive strengths inherent in both.

A relentless focus on customer service combined with a core emphasis on business development has earned him, over these many years, a loyal following of both depositors and borrowers. His personal experience in the real estate investment arena, as well as his previous business ownership, gives him critical perspective regarding the needs and expectations of the borrower.

A resident of Santa Monica for nearly four decades, he is an active member of the community and contributor to philanthropic organizations. David holds a BA degree in Communication Studies from California State University at Northridge.

Ricardo M. Mateus, Regional Vice President
Rick joined National Bank of California in 2010 and has over 30 years experience in Community Banking. He has overseen many aspects of branch and bank administration, budgeting, operations and financial reporting.

Rick was an Organizer, Director and Executive Vice President/Chief Financial Officer of Encino State Bank from 1996 until the bank was sold and merged into First Private Bank & Trust in 2004. He then held the position of Director of Private Banking overseeing and managing a sales plan for all business development officers including Regional Managers and Private Bankers. His responsibilities included managing goals and objectives for major product lines, officer compensation and incentive plans along with client cross sell efforts. Prior to 1996, Rick held a variety of positions participating in policy and administrative management decisions.

He has served in various positions with associations and organizations such as the Encino Chamber of Commerce, International Guiding Eyes and Calabasas Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Mateus is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, American Institute of Banking, Madison.
